The WKU BGCC . . . Summer Early Entry Program . . .

7 Weeks, Monday - Thursday

Important Notice:
The Council on Postsecondary Education now requires all incoming freshmen
to begin taking necessary developmental course work
within their first semester of attendance.

Success Awaits You!

Why not take the classes you need early and
be right on schedule with your classmates for the fall!

Classes will be offered June 15 - August 6, 2009 at
8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, and 1:00 pm.

Classes will not meet the week of July 6th.

Students are encouraged to take three classes.

Course Offerings Include:

Fundamentals of Composition
DENG 055C (3 credit hours)
Intensive course in the basic mechanics of writing,
reading, and grammar, designed to prepare
students for college-level work in English.
Basic Algebra Skills
DMA 055C (3 credit hours)
Designed to assist students whose background
in algebra is inadequate for success in
Intermediate Algebra (DMA 096C) or for those
who did not take Algebra I in high school.

College Reading Strategies
DRDG 080C (3 credit hours)
Preparation for reading at the college level.
Emphasis is given to vocabulary recognition,
comprehension, inference, and differentiation
of reading requirements as related to different
courses.


Intermediate Algebra
DMA 096C* (4 credit hours)
Prerequisites: Satisfactory score on ACCUPLACER
test or Math Placement Exam; or completion of
DMA 055C with a grade of “C” or better.
For those students needing algebra
who do not have the prerequisite for MATH 116 or 118.


University Experience
UCC 175C (2 credit hours)
IProvides information about campus resources,
thus empowering students to have a successful
transition to the higher education experience.



*For students who successfully complete these courses
this summer, spots will be held in the appropriate
sequential courses for the fall semester.

and the ability to get to know the campus, your classmates, and what it's
like to be in college before everyone else!

  2. Financial Aid may be available to assist students in the summer program. To apply for financial assistance for the Summer 2009 term, students should complete a 2008-2009 FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and a Summer Application (http://www.wku.edu/Info/FinAid/faforms.htm). To prevent processing delays, students should have a completed FAFSA and Summer application on file by April 17th.
