Congratulations George!
Congratulations George!
George applied and received a FaCET grant of $490 to fund a project titled "Learning about Virtual Environments and their Role in Education." His main interest is in the uses of virtual worlds in education, and ultimately in online teaching and learning. George has recently been studying Second Life (an Internet-based virtual world) and he just attended a SLOAN-C workshop on Second Life (SL). Virtual environment tools like Second Life may have applications in teaching literature, theater, the arts, archaeology, geography, and computer science.

To continue his research on educational uses of virtual worlds, George will attend the 14th Annual Instructional Technology Conference hosted by Middle Tennessee State University, titled "Developing a Participatory Learning Culture" next March. He hopes to bring back to the WKU community enough information that he can share with his colleagues via a WKU presentation, sometime next year.
