Welcome to... While many colleges and universities require specific high school grade point averages and/or high ACT or SAT scores for admission, Bowling Green Community College of Western Kentucky University has an “open door” admission policy. This means that regardless of test scores or grades in high school, all individuals who have a high school diploma or a GED will be considered for admission to BGCC. BGCC is an unusual community college as it is one of the six undergraduate colleges of Western Kentucky University. This means that students accepted by BGCC are also considered students of WKU and may choose to live in the WKU dormitories, participate in University student groups and activities and attend University events. Students admitted to BGCC are not eligible to participate on NCAA sanctioned teams but may participate in intramural sports programs at the University. In many ways, BGCC is similar to a small private college located within the larger University environment. BGCC offers small class sizes, individualized academic support services and a unique “One Stop Shop” for all student services including admission, registration and academic advising located in the BGCC Preston Student Success Center. Our students have their questions answered quickly and receive personalized support services that help to create a positive college experience. We hope that you will consider beginning your college career with BGCC where we do indeed work to provide “Higher Education….one student at a time!” ADMISSION INFORMATION
ORIENTATION PROGRAM INFORMATION Students who are admitted to BGCC for the Spring or Fall semester will receive an invitation by mail to attend a WKU/BGCC Orientation-Advising-Registration (O-A-R) program. We encourage all students to make a reservation to attend an O-A-R program during which they will attend information sessions, tour the campus, take any required academic placement tests and meet with an Academic Advisor to register for classes. For additional information about the O-A-R programs click here: O-A-R
New students who begin their college career in the Fall semester are also encouraged to participate in the M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan Program which introduces students to our campus community and to many of the activities and opportunities college life provides. For information on this program please click: M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan ACADEMIC ADVISING Each student attending Bowling Green Community College is assigned a full-time faculty member as an Academic Advisor to assist the student in planning a successful academic program. Students may check in TopNet under “General Student Information” for the name of their Advisor during their first semester at the College. The Office of Enrollment Services also provides year round academic advising services for students of the College. UNIVERSITY EXPERIENCE Bowling Green Community College requires all new students and those who transfer to BGCC with fewer than 24 hours of college credit to participate in the University Experience program.
